A man was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly beating a patient with a hammer during an operation, police said.
The patient, who is in his 70s, was taken to the hospital after the incident on Monday evening.
The man, who was identified as Miguel, 30, is accused of abusing the patient after the patient was knocked unconscious during the procedure.
According to police, Miguel allegedly assaulted the patient, knocked him to the ground and then struck him with a wooden hammer in his chest.
“He then put the hammer down, put his hands behind his back and began hitting him with the hammer,” the officer said.
“The patient fell unconscious on the floor, and then he began to walk away.”
The officer said the patient’s condition was not life threatening.
