The American Academy of Dermatology has announced that it will hold a conference called Dermatologist in the News to bring together dermatologists, nurses, nurses practitioners, and other health care professionals to share tips on treating skin cancers and other skin conditions.
The conference will take place from November 2 to 4 in Clear Lake, Illinois.
The conference will be held at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, the same location where the American Academy’s Dermatological Council held its first Dermatologic Clinics in 2007 and 2009.
It will also be the first conference in the United States to include dermatologists from all over the country.
“Dermatologists need to be part of the conversation on skin cancer treatment and research,” said Dr. Elizabeth Gail, vice president of the American Association of Dermologists.
“We all need to know how to be a good dermatologist.”
“We have a very specific role in our lives, and we all need a little bit of a voice,” said Ms. Gail.
“And if we want to make an impact on this issue, we need to help each other out.”
The Association of American Dermatopathologists will also present an online workshop on skin care, and the American College of Dernecologists is organizing a seminar for clinicians.
There will also also be a panel discussion on how dermatology can help people with diabetes, obesity, and heart disease.
“We want to give our participants a little more information about the different areas of dermatology and what it is like to work with patients,” said Jennifer Kuehnle, a clinical professor of dermatologic surgery and associate professor of cosmetic surgery at the American University of Beirut.
“This will be a great opportunity to learn about the science behind how skin cancers develop, what it’s like to treat a patient with skin cancer, and how we can help prevent it.”
The conference is open to all members of the medical community, including dermatologists and nurses.
